Hi Vneher,

It's a good sign that you are getting feeling back and you will probably be okay in that respect. In some patients, a bundle of nerves that supply nutrition to the lower teeth are very close to the roots of the wisdom teeth. In other patients, they aren't near the roots at all.

The bump on your jawline could be any number of things that could be temporary or it could be something else. Unless you develop symptoms of being ill.... fever, unusual fatigue, sore throat... or the bump gets bigger or painful, you may just have to wait this out to see if it goes away or decreases over time. However, if you feel there may be something wrong, then I would suggest that you see a different oral surgeon for evaluation now and not wait.

Be careful eating on that side... it is probably best not to if possible. Keep rinsing with "lightly" salted warm water 3-4 times a day for at least 10 days to keep the area clean. Also, make sure you brush all of your teeth very thoroughly to keep the amount of plaque down.

Try not to worry.....
Keep us posted on how you're doing.

Very swollen and a bump on jaw line and can't feel my mouth. Found out the nerve was hit but it's slowly getting better can feel the tingling so I'm assuming is good what my maxillofacial surgeon said. Well in the process this lump has still been on jaw line. Every now and then feel pain but tolerable. Last Wednesday gave me antibotic of penicillin saw me again Friday and determined to reopen it because he thinks it was an abscess. When he reopened it nothing drained. He then started me on amox with I think he said augmentin. ( please excuse spelling) still not painful pain and no fever. Just lump. No draninage still just annoying. He wants me to stay on antibotic for the rest of 10days but now he thinks maybe scar tissue or muscle pain. I'm scared and worried. I have 3 kids and my youngest is autistic. Please help. He said he don't believe it's a tooth abscess. My tooth was sensitive after surgery for like the first couple days now not really a pain I just think it hurts a little again because he reopened. Please someone help. I don't know what to do now..
