Default Healing power of music

Joan Snyder asked me to post the following. It is about a way for Forum members to let Paula know how much she is cherished by her fellow PwP. Please contact Joan offline if you have any questions or wish to participate.

Joan's post:

While in the midst of deep despair after hearing the news about my friend, Paula, I decided that my grieving for her was counter-productive; serving only my need and addressing only my suffering. I needed to put all of my negative energy into something useful: I sat down and began to write the titles of songs which I felt were relevant to my relationship with Paula and reminded me of her courage and her situation. It was like I had tapped into the wine keg of the universe! Then I set up different categories. I finally settled on the following (with the songs & artists) that reflect that heading:

LIFE AFFIRMATION: JUMP by Van Halen; I JUST WANT TO CELEBRATE (another day of living) by 3 Dog Night; LET IT GO, LET IT FLOW by Dave Mason; LIVE FOR TODAY by the Grass Roots; LIFE’S BEEN GOOD TO ME SO FAR by Joe Walsh & Barnstorm,

DANCER: PRETTY BALLERINA by the Left Banke, TINY DANCER by Elton John, COME DANCIN’ by The Kinks, AND WE DANCED by The Hooters, LET’S DANCE by David Bowie;

TIME: TIME AFTER TIME by Cyndi Lauper, PRECIOUS TIME (is slippin’ away) by Van Morrison, TIME HAS COME TODAY by The Chambers Brothers

REFLECTIONS: ISN’T LIFE STRANGE by The Moody Blues, HIGHER LOVE by Steve Winwood, BOTH SIDES NOW by Judy Collins, THUNDER ROAD by Bruce Springsteen, LITTLE LIES by Fleetwood Mac, YOU CAN’T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT by the Rolling Stones, THAT’S JUST THE WAY IT IS by Bruce Hornsby & The Range, GLORY DAYS by Bruce Springsteen

DISTRACTIONS: MANIC DEPRESSION by Jimi Hendrix, ALL I NEED IS A MIRICLE by Mike & The Mechanics, ABRAKADABRA by The Steve Miller Band, GLAD ALL OVER by Jeff Beck Group, EVERYBODY MOST GET STONED by Bob Dylan, UNDER PRESSURE by David Bowie & Queen, EMOTIONAL RESCUE by The Rolling Stones, TIGHTROPE by LEON RUSSELL

TRANSFORMATIONS: LET MY LOVE OPEN THE DOOR by Pete Townsend, ARC OF A DIVER by Steve Winwood, WINNING by Santana, ACCIDENTLY LIKE A MARTYR by Warren Zevon, I KNOW YOU RIDER by The Grateful Dead, WEAR MY LOVE LIKE HEAVEN by Donovan, DUST IN THE WIND by Kansas, STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN by Led Zeppelin, BORN TO RUN by Bruce Springsteen
And finally because I know that Paula has a twisted sense of humor:
SHE’S SO COLD by The Rolling Stones.

I am having these cd’s burned by a friend and they will be on their way to her shortly. This small but completely thought-out gift of music is the best that this parkie brain could come up with. I hope that it brings you the memories and fun that it brought me. I invite everyone whom Paula has touched, to either post your own titles of songs that remind you of Paula or to burn them & send them to her.Let us flood her days with music!!
