my mattress sits pretty far up. I am almost directly sitting. The mattress itself will depend on what yours is made of. Some flex up, but when you sit down on the mattress it goes into the rise you expect. if your mattress is too light, it needs the body weight to hold it down.

Another issue I saw reported was if you dont have a foot board, it can cause the mattress to slide off the end of the bed. You can sew velcro on the box spring and mattress to make them stay together or glue it on. I have a platform with a box (its on old water bed, who am I kidding?) and it doesnt slide anywhere.

I expected that plastic smell but there is a light odor and it has gone quickly.

im really happy! I can find the perfect spot to make that MS hug let go. it seems every time I lay flat the MS hug really beats up on me.
