Default Pre-Op Appointment Preparation - Advice?

Hello everyone. Quick history: woke up with swollen hand and arm one day last year in May (out of the blue), swelling got worse and a couple days later I went to my doctor who immediately sent me to the hospital / emergency where I was diagnosed with a blood clot. By that time it was too late to be admitted and administered with thrombolytics, so I was just treated with heparin shots for about 10 days and have been on coumadin ever since. Was diagnosed with Venous TOS and Factor V Leiden blood disorder shortly thereafter.

For the last year I have been treated by a hemotologist and vascular surgeon and they both told me I need the surgery. Staying on coumadin for the rest of my life is not an option (in their opinion, and mine as well, I suppose). I will be having my rib re-section surgery with the next couple of months or so...don't have the exact date yet, but I do have my pre-op assessement booked (June 26). Was wondering if anyone who has been through this surgery could provide any advice to prepare for the pre-op. I will be meeting with the anesthesiologist at this appointment as well.

From your experience, are there any questions you would recommend that I ask? Any advice you wish to share? Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post.
