Here in the States, anybody injured at work is stuck with the limits of the Workers Compensation system. It is a no fault system that does not require the employer to be declared liable. The insurance is paid based on payroll and job risks. The employer avoids liability and the employee gets severe limits on legal fees thus their recovery is just as limited. They can not receive any pain and suffering nor any punitive damages. It rarely properly covers disability losses.
The few UK members on NT may be able to offer some perspective.
