Default El Niņo/La Niņa "transition year?"

The weather has been freaky everywhere it seems. Hot for starters. I am thinking there must be one of those odd global current things driving many events and conditions, like El Niņo or something like that.

a quick search uncovered this (blog) article, posted July 3rd, which states:
Quote:
This is a transition year from the La Niņa weather seen in 2011 to El Nino, which should take full effect by the early fall of 2012.
interesting. it goes on to speculate about the implications on drought etc.

all i know is, here, it was already hot in early June which should be comfortably warm in this area. What's more they keep promising rain which never shows up --- that said i would NOT like one of those derechos that just hit the US... yikes, i'll just keep wetting down my head with the spraybottle thank you.
