Hey blue grass. Im glad you took the initiative to come here and learn . My RSD started as a result of a slip and fall on black ice while at work.
my initial injury caused contusions, bruised bone and a blood clot with that was treated by taking a blood thinner, when that cleared the pain was still radiating from foot ankle and knee, and foot was ice cold and still discolored. I was on crutches, going to PT and seeing a vascular surgeon, neurologist, orthopedic surgeon, pain management and spine specialist.. with in 7 months I had it with being home so I convinced my Dr, to allow me back to work. First I was doing light duty, then I went back on route, slowly but surely I started to get worse, the pain got so bad that I found it almost impossible to do minor duties at work till one day I woke up and needed my wife to bring me into hospital, as walking 10 feet from my bed to bathroom was to painful.with in 3 days my Dr,s said it was to dangerous to go back to work so they PULLED me out of work, they put me on neurontin. and percicept, what an argument I gave re the perc. I lost as comp made me take them. saying if I refue this treatment I will no longer be covered. then shortly after my dr,s all suggested I research RSD. then they started the panel of tests. since my dx I've done steroid injections, ganglion injection, lumbar block, spinal tap, and epidurals. all major fail. in fact the second steroid injection made RSD worse. so the put me on amrix(muscle relaxer) vimovo.(super advil with nexium) lyrics. in place of neurontin with that made me dumb and forgetful and sleep and so on. also elavil for sensitivity(helps a little) now the lyrics does nothing for the pain. they keep me on it because initially it made me sleep at night. well goes what here I am at 3 am on the computer because it doesn't do that anymore. right now I am paying for my own aqua therapy, and IDK yet how that is going. and I am presently awaiting response from john hopkins to see If comp and they have agreed to a fee schedule.. if so then I will be going for pain psych. rehab . it is short duration PT occupational therapy, and try to get me off the drugs.though thats easy all they gotta say is don't take them and I will.. only so i cn drink the pain away(lol) not really.. and thats where I am now. the RSD has spread from right limb to both lower limbs.(groin, testies, surgical areas, belly, chest upper arms , lower back, and upper shoulders. it sucks but I wake up every day.. hope this helps a little
