Apparently this PGC-1alpha is old news for most of you. I just found posts from 2007 in which you were all already discussing meds for diabetics to increase this protein. But if this was known in 2007 already, then why is this such a big news all of a sudden ? Are these scientist bad informed ??

To add even more to my confusion, I found following result:

To our surprise, PGC-1α expression failed to protect against a mitochondrial toxin (MPTP). Furthermore, PGC-1α on its own caused a dramatic decrease in expression of a key enzyme involved dopamine synthesis (tyrosine hydroxlase; TH), as well as a decrease in a potentially protective protein (BDNF).
