Hello folks,
I made an intro post on another thread and have been referred here since I think I may have PN.Its early to speculate,as I have an appointment with a neurologist next Thursday, and I'm hoping that I will have a clearer idea about what I am experiencing. For now though, here is a brief history of where I am.
About 4 months ago I found that the side of my left foot was becoming numb, this was quickly followed by numbness in my left big toe.Since then the right big toe and heel of my right foot have followed with the numbness.Sometimes I get a sharp burning pain when I move my arms and hands.fingers although this is variable and seems to move around or even disappear. The numbness remains however, and is coupled with some tingling sensations from within my toes. They feel like they are encased in wax which is more pronounced when I wear socks and shoes.Over the weekend,my left arm developed a mild sensations of pins and needles which seems to be receding although there has been a mild sensation in both arms for a few days.Parts of my hands and fingers are also developing a localised numbness although I have no weakness at all.My GP has referred me as she 'thinks' it is peripheral neuropathy but has no information regarding possible cause, treatment, duration expectation etc. So,my hopes are on the consultant next week.I have had numerous blood tests including for lyme disease, all have come back within normal limits, liver etc etc....Having looked around this forum in the brief time I have been a member I see that there are many people with more to deal with than I currently do,although I have to say that my symptoms are disconcerting and I hope to have some relief and answers soon.My lifestyle is that I eat well dont smoke get moderate exercise although I am on meds for hypertension, namely ramipril 10 mg and lercanidipine which has gone from 10 to 20 mg in the last few months....Anyway,thanks to all those who keep this forum going I am pleased to have found it as it is of comfort to know that I am not alone.
