There are different kinds of steroids. Many are produced naturally in the body, and necessary for biologic functions.
Some people do have a sensitivity to vitamin D, so supplementation can be tricky. I've read lots about that in the past day or two, but as I was looking for something else, I didn't really note the specifics. At the time I was reading about differences between D2 & D3, if that helps any...
