There are two basic types of testing for neuropathy.
1) mechanical (external) ...where electro-conduction is done with needles and electrical stimulus, MRIs perhaps, Xrays for spinal evaluation for disc compressions etc.
2) biochemical testing:

These blood tests are complex and evaluate many potential causes of PN that can be found as markers in the blood.
Some are antibody tests, some look for bone marrow dysfunctions (MGus), nutrient deficiencies, autoimmune markers, cancer, heavy metals and other toxins, etc.
