Yes, the glia are also involved with opiate tolerance, and the formation of new pain receptors.

I am going to try the low dose Benadryl myself. I use it at bedtime in regular doses, and it seems to help my feet when they are acting up.

There ARE histamine receptors in the brain. So it is worth a try.
5mg is below the threshold for side effects. Apparently there are none at this dose.

Mast cells are allergic histamine release cells. Keep that in mind, also.
