Exclamation Sudden Weakness in extremities, Hospital inconclusive

I'm posting this on behalf of my dad, hoping maybe someone might recognize his symptoms. Today is Tuesday, on Saturday he woke up with achy muscles which got progressively worse moving to the neck and loss of motor function in starting with his hands and his upper legs shortly after. He slept a lot on Saturday and also mentioned a muscular soreness in his throat. Sunday he was completely unable to function at work, the pain in his legs became excruciating and his biceps felt on the verge of cramping. Monday he went to urgent care, labs taken but no same day results so he went to the hospital that evening. Hospital said labs were normal except for borderline electrolytes and they ruled out CVA and any heart problems. He was diagnosed with Myalgia, given IV Sodium Hydrochloride 1000mL and send home with Ibuprophen 800mg. Today the leg pain is subsiding slightly but still painful when moving, no motor function in hands, and is extremely weak. Only med history is Hypertension and is complying with his Lisinopril prescription, he is a healthy man who runs 5 miles daily, former bicycle racer, and marathoner so he is no stranger to muscular fatigue. He describes his pain as severe muscular fatigue and borderline cramping, but having done nothing of extreme physical nature it is illogical. He has sustained no insect bites in the past week, has not been recently ill, and has had no complaints in general. If you have any ideas please let me know, our PCP is taking forever to take him in although we're urging for a simple referral to a Neurologist. Thank you for your help.
