I think when you are distracted enough, your brain does not pay attention to pain signals the same way.

On vacation this summer, the first 10 days were very stressful for me since our lovely cat was sooooo suddenly ill from an injury.

I was so focused on her 24/7, my feet never ever hurt. Then after she recovered, the burning came BACK... I was very disappointed. It could have been all the cortisol my body was pumping out from the stress, or it could have been my not paying attention to anything much but to her!
