Welcome to NeuroTalk:

First off...has your sister had a B12 test? Low B12 causes nerve damage. She should get this test ASAP, and ask for the numbers themselves, because doctors still use old outdated lab ranges showing low results as "normal".

Here is our B12 thread on the Peripheral Neuropathy forum:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread85103.html

This is only a start. Visit our PN forum and make a post with more details so we can perhaps send you on a healing path.
Some neuropathies are genetic but not all. There can be over 100 causes of nerve damage otherwise. There is alot to read and learn here, so pull up a chair, get your coffee/tea ready and begin!
