Hi Bizi With me,it took six months to slowly stop drinking. Then after another six months I was off of it all together.
I know it's hard at times, but it's worth it. I'm sorry that you had a bad day. These days are difficult.
I had a very high tolerance for alcohol. I could drink 2 six packs of beer each night. I also drank 151 rum when I wanted to get smashed. I started drinking vodka during the day before I stopped.
I stopped drinking when my doctor gave me Quaalude for sleeping for two years, and after that time I wanted to get off of them. He did not taper me off of them, and I ended up drinking again. At this time I was severely stressed, and my neck tension was the worse, and my hands shook. My mind felt like it was going to snap. I had problems for awhile. I made it through this period of time.
Then it was about 2 years later that I stopped drinking for good. I separated myself from my drinking friends. All they wanted to do was drink, and draw me back to it.
It was not easy, but I've been sober for over 20 years. I deal with my anxiety problems in therapy, and a better form of medication now.
Hugs to you. BF
