A major contract drug manufacturer has been barred from distributing its numerous prescription and OTC products, the FDA announced yesterday.
PharmaFab and its subsidiary, PFab LP, manufacture and distribute more than 100 drugs, including cough and cold remedies, ulcer treatments, and postpartum hemorrhage products. The FDA charged that these products are illegal because the company failed to comply with current good manufacturing practice and to obtain FDA approval for many products, including Rhinacon A tablets, Histex Pd 12 suspension, Ergotrate tablets, and hyoscyamine sulfate time-release capsules, among others.
PharmaFab has agreed to destroy certain drugs and cease distributing all drugs until it obtains necessary FDA approvals and complies with manufacturing requirements. The FDA recommends that consumers who have PharmaFab products consult their physicians.
