Andrew, I'd suggest you use the activated form called methylcobalamin, and take 5mg of it daily on an empty stomach.

Since you are seeing results, you'll have to take this for several months in order to see further improvements. Typically I recommend 3 months on 5mg then reduce as improvement occurs. But with you severe problem, you may need 6months.

Do you know why you were so low? If not, you'll have to take this for life, I think. Acid lowering drugs and Metformin will affect B12 levels. But Vegans also have problems sometimes, and also those with damaged parietal cells of the stomach.
