Theta,
Do you have specific experience with the UCSF Concussion Clinic? I have read over all the available information about it and am not impressed. The research side is limited to diagnostic imaging but it is not in regular use. It appears to be a traditional sport medicine and athletic trainer oriented program.
I hope HelloHome, if she gets an appointment, gets a benefit from it. At least she will get confirmation of her concussion. That alone is just about worth the price of admission. Any treatment they offer will be interesting.
My observation is that many Concussion Clinics were established as a result of the 'Silent Epidemic,' whether it was the general idea or the documentary. Health care is always looking for a new way to generate fees. Most of the doctors have very limited training and experience with concussions and just set up a 'multi-disciplinary' approach to treatment. This usually means OT's PT's, and NeuroPsychs. Some have other specialties of limited value. They are the latest boutique clinic of the new decade.
