When my neck muscles get tight and even more so when they were in spasms, I had a chugging/whooshing pulse sound.
It was worse for me when tring to sleep, the constant whooshing kept me awake.

Mine did go away after the spasms & constant tightness go resolved. But it did take a while, and it may come back at times.
