Unfortunately it is as sallysue says... trial and error to determine how your system will respond to each medication, and that can take a few weeks trial on each one. You might talk to your doc about meds that act as a nerve agent. Alprazolam (Xanax) is one and does have an effect on the nerve pain. Constantly fighting RSD pain will tax your whole system, so physical therapy (any physical exercise) and a super healthy diet will go a long way in helping you feel the best you possible can.

As far as fiancee... there are websites for families of victims that explain what you go through. (** **) Its hard for most people, esp. men to wrap their mind around RSD. Trust me, its really hard to see one you love fighting RSD and it takes time for us to come to a full realization of what you go through. Bottom line... If he refuses to learn about the disease and support you then you don't need him in your life. Stress increases the pain astronomically. Hang in there honey...
