halknelson,

I think you are trying to make too much of the struggles from exercise and other efforts. It could be simply a metabolic issue of the cells struggling to get the substances needed for complete and adequate metabolism. If muscles struggle from fatigue, brain cells likely experience a similar fatigue. Plus, during and after exercise and effort, there are greater amounts of the wastes from metabolism in the blood stream.
