This is understandable. But...

One can be divided to an infinite number of pieces. Depending on the number of tasks at hand divide your one thing into many. People will understand if you consistently do 1/4. They find it hard to understand if you do 1 and then 0, unless you consistently do so.

Also remember that there is more than one day. you can do that one task over 4 days instead of one. As long as there is a clear pattern, it is much easier to adjust.
