Hmmmm, regarding the pain during the procedure, you can 'boss' your doc around a bit by saying 'oooouuuuCH'. He'll shoot some more of the local numbing agent in and around the incision he's working on.
The first few days after the procedure are a bit sore of course. Take it real easy those days, lay comfortably, gentle ice packs on the incision and hopefully you'll be provided with ample pain meds.
I think it's a good idea to ask if you can stay overnight. If insurance doesnt allow it, then have someone near you around the clock at home to tend to you.

That's amazing the doctor is giving you the option of rechargable or not.
It depends how long the nonchargable one is expected to last. I'm not very familiar with them.
