Default Front #8 tooth old root canal pain/bump

My #8 tooth in the front has an old root canal and a porcelian crown (sp) that is 4 years old. It started to get super sensitive a few years ago and several dentists have written it off as "tramatic occluction and widining of the periodontal ligament. It HURTS, cold, heat, pressue, nothing. There is also a hard verticle thin bump directly above the tooth high into my gums. Noone understands what I am showing them. #7 had a root canal and crown and 2 1/2 months ago broke! So I had an extraction, bone graft, titanium implant placed and have been in a flipper until the implant will torque enough. Because of the flipper there is NO occlusion AT ALL. So I had another dentist do an xray of #8 (in additional to #7 because my gum is dark and gray as a result of the implant being close to the facial wall) that dentist said it looks like either a fracture or an infection but something looks funny. Sent the xray to my dentist who then recommended a retreat. I am terrified I'll end up with another implant! I had 14 crowns done 4 years ago because I wanted a perfect smile. I had decend teeth. I am only 30.
So questions, what does this bump thing sound like??? also the tooth just feels different.
What course of action is the best?
Help please! in addition to the implant being a pain and just making me feel ugly even with the flipper (i had my gums all done so they were perfect now they are messed up and dark) The cost for everything was $4400. I have a family and no dental insurande. Not to mention the 1st flipper broke after 5 weeks. I am 500 miles from my dentist. I had another denist make a new one $724 and it doesn't even look good.
