You can have a normal emg and still have large fiber neuropathy
Just wanted to pop in, say hi! I am a new member.
I am still awaiting my "final" diagnosis, but it seems very clear that i have a large and small fiber neuropathy with autonomic involvement.
I am awaiting my appointment for a skin biopsy,
I wanted to let those who have symptoms of large fiber involvement and a normal emg- it may not necessarily be accurate.
I've had a "normal" emg with evidence of two "nerve entrapments" early last year, followed by an abnormal emg of 6 "nerve entrapments" (or as I call it- multi-focal neuropathy) after an episode of weakness and large fiber symptoms. I just had another emg which is now completely normal with no evidence of any "nerve entrapments" (wow, I am miraculously cured from, what they have been calling "severe bilateral carpal tunnel" and "L5,S1 radiculopathy).
Depending on when you have your emg, your nerves may heal and your emg may be normal.
