The ultra low carb type diets are too difficult for people with liver damage, kidney problems, or who are older.

All that protein has to be metabolized by the liver into glucose, and some people get low blood sugars because this process is too slow for them. When the Atkins diet was popular, I used to get questions like this all the time.

So if one gets lightheaded or weird feeling on ultra low carb, then adding in some low glycemic carbs is a good idea.
