Hi Gabelle,

Can you post the x-ray here?

Most of the time it is necessary to remove the root tip because it will act as a constant irritant and infection will develop. A swollen jaw is not normal irrelevant of when the surgery was done. I think there may be some good ole boy crap going on which is not uncommon. Did your general dentist extract the wisdom tooth? Is he the one who referred you to this oral surgeon?
