Default Implant and crown placement

Hello there. I have been reading he posts here, but have not found the the exact answer/advice am looking for.

I got an implant on my lower left molar, starting the procedure about 9 months ago. My 12 year molars never came in (born without them and with out wisdom teeth) so I have just the one molar on each side to really chew with. So, the molar had two root canals, then failed so off to get an implant i went. My dentist took the impressions and got the crown made back in December, 2012. It was low when it was put in. My question is - should a crown fit perfectly when put in the first time?
It did not, the dentist drilled (i am not sure that is the right word) the tooth next to the implant/crown so the other tooth would not hit first. Asa a result of the tooth hitting first, it has been taking too much pressure and there is now an abscess at the root and if it does not heal on its own from having it adjust twice (drilled on to lower it). I want to know if I should have expected the crown to fit properly the first time. I asked my dentist this and he said the bite changes. I think for the money i spent onthe crown it should have fit.... Any advice?
