I still don't understand what people see in facebook. When it first became all the rave, I was curious about it, and occasionally tempted. I've been asked and even cajoled about joining. However I prefer to keep my social presence on the www anonymous, and I can't see having RL friends or family call me by a handle. I think it would be confusing to have multiple accounts - I wouldn't be able to tell my elbow from my rear end any more.
Furthermore, as the years have gone by, my curiousity has only been replaced by near-aversion. I hardly ever hear about good experiences on facebook. At most, I might hear about a "useful" communication - that could easily have been sent via email, even to multiple people.
To the contrary, I hear increasing numbers of people hurt, confused, angry, offended, upset over something that happened on facebook. I hear about people getting abused or insulted, friending and unfriending (expectedly or unexpectedly), blocking etc, and misunderstandings etc ... all on facebook. We won't talk about the odd occasion when accounts get broken into - happened to Lil' Monkey (Curious' daughter - it was disastrous!)
I can still somewhat appreciate the use of it to keep in touch with a limited circle, say family, but even then, there seems to be drama. I just don't get it. I fail to see the positives in it.
I know there are games, but i have no lack of free games. And if we want to talk about that then let's talk about internet addiction... oh there's a good thing!
So my solution is not friending unfriending or blocking or hiding. My own personal (perhaps antiquated) solution is ...
... I DON'T DO FACEBOOK! HA!
