As Joe said, tingling (as well as other symptoms) can be a sign of either.

For some who are improving quickly (likely the cause has been removed before more severe damage has been done), just plain old feeling and/or moving better is a sign of healing.

For others, seemingly new symptoms, worsened symptoms, and sometimes just plain weird symptoms a signs of healing. Of course, that can also be true with worsening.

Eventually, a long-term pattern of any or all of the above, but with an overall improvement over time, will tell.
