I think there are several things here:
Routine: I personally found it very good to set a routine - especially to override the insomnia by going to bed and rising at set times.
Hidden work: It was not until another poster (papershoes) pointed it out to me that I was doing a lot of "hidden" work. Responding to letters or chasing down medical appointments and solicitors is extremely taxing and burns up a lot of brain power.
Tiredness: Even though I now get 8 hours or more sleep - it still takes me a while to get going in the morning. But I build this into my routine - get dressed, have breakfast, take medication and vitamins, some screen time. Then do some simple housework - dishes or put the vacuam on. I may have to rest afterwards but I can work with that as part of the routine. Mainly early evenings I have to "shut down" for 10 mins where I fall asleep.
Getting better is a very long process it has taken me over a year to get comfortable with what I can and can't do - for the first six months, I was still trying to live my old hyperactive, multitasking lifestyle. I realise I am not that person now
