Hi StarBurry,
The first thing to know is that your tooth has been infected for at least 7 years since the first root canal was done. The fact that the tooth showed obvious signs of an infection later on has nothing to do with the original root canal being done improperly or with the tooth not being crowned. All root canaled teeth remain infected because there is no access to the tiny canals that contain infected nerve material. Eventually all root canaled teeth show signs of infection. Usually this occurs when the bacteria has spread from the tiny canals through the tooth into the jawbone. Such as in your case where the xray shows a "black hole in the jaw". That is exactly what is in your jaw.... a black hole of infection. There is no procedure that can cure the infection inside of your tooth. The longer you keep this tooth, the larger the hole will become in your jawbone and the further the infection will spread.
The swelling under you tongue is a bad sign. You need to get to a dentist asap. This type of swelling can close off your airway. The antibiotic may or may not temporarily reduce this type of swelling. I would not wait if it were me.
I know you want to keep this tooth... however... keep in mind that there is no way to make this tooth healthy again. There is no way to "save" as in cure the infection in this tooth that has spread to your jawbone and obviously lymphatic system.
I am being blunt with you because you have a serious situation and it should not wait to be treated. The only way to remove the infection is to remove the source of the infection which is the tooth. Only see an oral surgeon for the removal of this tooth... not a general dentist.
Please check back with us to let us know how you are doing!

I went in for a retreat Thursday, woke up the next day in alot of pain and with a swollen lymph node on the side of the root canal. Day by day is has just gotten worse. Today i slept 12 hours and woke up still tired. I still have a swollen painful lymph node and pain in my tooth and now swelling under my tongue on the side of the root canal with a sore on it. Im also on clindamycin. Its tooth number 32. I want to do everything i can to save my tooth. Does it seem savable? I have read alot saying no and yes. If i were to have it pulled, with it being my last tooth how would it be replaced? Im very stressed about this.. i really want to save my tooth and not be in pain..
