You should be able to use Robitussin DM. No decongestants in
that. It will help with the mucus and help move it out. Drink plenty of water when taking.

This comes in a tablet form, available as Mucinex DM. (not D).
Less expensive generic at WalMart called Mucus relief cough.

Usually people with mitral valve prolapse can tolerate cold products that do not have decongestants or caffeine in them.
