You can search here "magnesium" and find threads that discuss it.

Basically all humans need a RDA amount to live. If you get that, you are in the 30% of Americans, as 70% or so are deficient.

The studies showing magnesium problems with MG were found with massive doses, like the IV injections given to pre-eclampsic women in labor.

RDA for females is about 350mg elemental a day.
Magnesium oxide is not absorbed, so doesn't count.

SlowMag or a good chelate is recommended. A good supplement will give elemental values in the ingredients list.
Some do not, so what you get may be confusing with those types.

2 of these daily provide 1/2 the average RDA for adults, which is a
good dose to start at...assuming you eat about 1/2 of what you really
need.
