Mia,
I have some of those problems at times too.
I just accept that if something is going to happen, its going to happen, and move on. I know that if I accepted the need for a drug, after talking it over with my Neurologist, I will take it, and see what happens.
If I get a side effect, and its tolerable - ok; if I get a paradox effect and its tolerable - ok; if either is not tolerable, Im on the phone, and we talk about it; and find a solution.
I made it clear up front with my Neurologist - since I did this when I was working in the field, I wish it so now as a patient, its called communication - he likes email communiques, so I like 24 hours turn around times - we have a good rapport.
He also knows I will be on the "net' double checking any new drug he talks about - and always researching what I can do about my problems.
He says he appreciates it, it keeps him up to date - "saves me some research" - since he does alot of expert witness testimonies, I feel Im a help for him lol.
Sending him lots of bibliographies and such. lol

Medication update: Topamax 200mg twice daily it seems to minimize daily headaches to a 1-2/10 quality(I still know they are there); and acute headaches erupt without warnings.
