Hi everyone! Yesterday I went to my first Chiropractic Neurologist appointment. He apparantely trained with the Carrick Institute and is board certified in Neurology. Anyway, he works with his wife who is a Chinese Medicine Doctor and does acupuncture. I am so far impressed with his holistic combination of eastern and western medicine and his patience and the time he takes to know my condition indepthly is so refreshing compared to my 15 minute rushed medical visits.
So yesterday he did a full neurological examination of me. His wife also did pulse reading (chinese medicine). He said I have a sprain on the left side of my neck and its inflammed.
He asked to go home and take a dosage of GABA and to soak in epson salts of 15 minutes every night as it absorbs a larger dose of magnesium more quickly as opposed to taking pills.
The GABA really worked great for me. I haven't fallen asleep and had such a deep sleep in a long time since my injury and I woke up feeling very good and headache much diminished. I still feel a weird inflammation and pressure on the left side of my head but the pain has diminished.
I will go back tonight for another treatment. I will receive acupuncture as well as massage in my neck area tonight.
I've realized everyon'es recovery is different and I think PCS is difficult to deal with because it's our brain and not just a simple sprain or cut and so there are so many factors that are involved. I think the GABA really helped me just because I've been so stressed out and havne't had a good night's sleep in a while which of course has been contributing to my headaches and probably hindering on my recovery. I've realized that PCS really requires a holistic treatment and like Mark has said..unfortuately a quick fix won't do

And honestly thats what I was so frustrated with. I've always been healthy and an avid marathon runner and any injury or illness I've faced has always been fixed with a pill or a quick fix!!!!
Anyway, knowledge is power! So thank you everyone for sharing your experiences with me and I just want to share mine with you.
The doctor told me to think a larger goal I want to achieve ..not just wanting my head to stop hurting. I was thinking..I really want to get back to marathon running one day when i'm well and at that time I would definitely be running for PCS.
Thank you everyoe for your support.
