Cognitive therapy is not always needed to over-come cognitive struggles. In fact, cognitive therapy is not always beneficial. Plus, cognitive therapy means a variety of things. To some, it is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). For others it is similar to brain training/Lumosity. It also may be a part of Speech Therapy. It can be directed by a Speech Therapist, a social worker, a psychologist, and a few other specialties.
There is no One Size Fits All cognitive therapy.
Some Cognitive Therapy is teaching the person thought disciplines.
Some people experience spontaneous improvements. For others, they learn work-arounds or other skills for doing the lost functions. For many, learning to moderate stress and anxiety allows the cognitive skills to improve.
So, as I said, there is not a one size fits all therapy.
