Hi malawi,

Hopefully this second round of antibiotics will reduce the swelling and inflammation which would make the effect of the anesthetic more profound. Please make sure to take it as directed.

It is best to have a dentist who is very experienced with oral surgery rather than someone who basically just does restorative dentistry because you want the extraction to be done well and the bone to be thoroughly cleaned up. Do you know if your dentist does a lot of extractions? Perhaps you could look up oral surgeons in a Malawi phone directory online?

Thanx so much for your response and sorry for double posting. So, I went to see my dentist again and we are both in agreement about the extraction. He has put me on another course of stronger antibiotics which I am to start 3 days before the extraction (which is scheduled for Monday) and to carry on for 2days after. My ownly concern is that the swelling didn't decrease with the previous antibiotics and if it doesn't with this next course will that make the anaesthetic ineffective. Btw I don't know if we have oral surgeons available in Malawi (where I come from). What is your concern about my dentist doing it.

Thanks for your help.
