Hi olichka,

I know you are scared.... that's okay, it's very normal to feel that way. But you will be okay once the tooth is removed.

First it is important for you to know that it does not matter how well or how bad the root canal procedure was done.....ALL root canaled teeth remain infected because the nerve material inside of a tooth cannot be cleaned out completely. Some dentists will tell a patient that the procedure was not done well... but it is truly irrelevant.

Oral surgeons remove teeth that have roots in the sinus ..... every day. It is not uncommon. Removing the tooth will not cause you to have sinus infection for the rest of your life. Keeping the tooth will cause you to have sinus infections because the tooth is what is infecting the sinus. The tooth is the source of the infection and once it is removed, the sinus can attempt to heal.

Yes, the oral surgery to remove this tooth may be a little complicated and yes you may need to have some sinus repair done..... but you will heal from all of that.

I cannot give you any idea of what it would cost as that differs depending on the difficulty of the surgery, if any additional procedures are done (like a sinus repair), if you have a local anesthetic or IV sedation, and even the location of the dentist affects the cost of the procedure.

It would probably be wise to consider having the IV sedation so that you are in a calm state during the procedure and you are unaware of anything that is going on. The time will seem like only a few seconds have passed and you will have no recollection of any of it.

I want you to try to not let your fear get the best of you. It is okay to be scared but take some deep breathes and try to calm yourself down. This is something you will need to do. So think of things that you can do now to make life easier for yourself when you are recovering. For instance prepare a soft food diet menu so that you are not scrambling for something to eat ... plan on relaxing for a couple of days. Taking good care of yourself afterwards will help you heal faster and more completely. Please be assured that you will be okay!

I am so waiting for oral surgeon to call me and tell me what h decided to do. I NEED PRAYERS. And I AM VERY SCARED. If oral surgeon will be the one taking care of it ...how will everything go? will they put me under? what the cost $$$?..... please please let me know. I will be waiting. thank you
