Brand, Generic...MANUFACTURERS
Thank you, Geraldo, for your response. It seems, then, that whether it be Brand or Generic...the formulation can be the culprit. Neither seems to have to adhere to the bioequivalency guidelines, then. It just happened that two of the generics that she had been taking...one for Mirapex...the other for Amantadine...changed manufacturers and that is when the difficulty occurred. Before this, both generics and the manufacturers of THOSE generics worked just fine for her. I have to say that when I researched all this on the internet, I couldn't believe that the manufacturers of medications could stray so far from the exact ratio/formula, and that this could cause such a horrendous outcome for people taking these medications. I think it is particularly important when dealing with PD medications because I believe that even the least deviation can result in terrible outcomes for the pwp.
