The calcium in milk and diary is not as absorbable as calcium in plants.
The USDAs dairy recommendations are probably built on the dairy industry's lobbying.
You could eat sardines with bones. That gives you calcium. Also, you could make soup with bones. The bones have good minerals. That is absorbable.

It is but one of the studies suggested that it is because of the magnesium in the coral calcium.
Getting magnesium and vitamin D is very helpful for your calcium levels.

Maybe cut down to 500 mg although that one study said ANY level of calcium supplementation is a bad idea. Certainly talk to your MD the next time you go.
