Some people will get loose on empty stomach.
Magnesium is one of those minerals, that we eat. So food is okay.
Empty stomach will move the magnesium along faster. It is best to have slower transit for more absorption IMO.
Magnesium shares the transporter with calcium. So if calcium is not present more mag may be absorbed per dose.
