I'd say they got it backwards. B12 is a very large molecule and must jump through an extraordinary number of hoops to be usable and storable. Just about anything can interfere with its absorption when a person malabsorbs severely.
I haven't seen any evidence that even extremely high levels of B12 interfere with anything. If there is such evidence, I would certainly want to see it.
