He was thoroughly checked for MS and other conditions like Guillain-Barre. When these tests came back negative, they suggested psychological origins and diagnosed him with conversion disorder even though he has not suffered psychological trauma. With intense physical therapy, he recovered within 2 weeks.

When he was admitted to the hospital, the doctors took him off the Flagyl almost immediately and declared that the C Diff was gone. What they failed to mention to me is that Metronidazole can have a neurotoxic effect on some people. My son began to improve as soon as the antibiotic was stopped.

I'm looking for people who've known of others with the same experience, especially with pediatric patients. The whole experience as left me frustrated and confused about who to trust....the doctors, or my gut?
I'm glad MS was ruled out. He's so young. I know it must be frustrating to you not to be able to get a firm diagnosis. It really does sound like it was the Metronidazole that was the culprit.

Here are a couple of forums here on NeuroTalk that might be of help to you. You might want to post your story on these forums, too, to see if anyone has had a similar experience.
