ssdi to ssi?
Just to clarify, those on SSDI who reach their retirement age, the benefits do not get reduced to SSI (Supplement Security Income) which is welfare type benefits.
SSDI will NOT be reduced. Depending on your retirement age, you will be given an option......
Either take the regular SS benefits or keep your SSDI amount. The SSDI is higher than the regular SS benefits.

I am currently 63 receiving SSDI. I never received anything from them when I was 62 asking if I wanted to collect early. My "official" retirement age is 66. I will elect to collect the SSDI amount as it is more than just regular SS (retirement).
