Hi Gretchen,

That lump could be any number of things. Perhaps a sooner appointment with the oral surgeon would be wise to see what that is. I could only speculate here and don't want to make it sound any worse than it may be. So see the surgeon this week if you can. Continue with the rinses too!

Let us know...

I had an upper back molar extraction a week ago, and did have some sinus exposure. The oral surgeon said the tooth broke and the root tip was in my sinus area. From what he told my husband, he got it all out.

Anyway, for a couple of days, I could feel air going up into my nose from my tooth, even bubbles from liquids the first day. That seems to be gone now, so hopefully the hole is closing.

What I'm concerned about is a painful lump on my cheek near the extraction site. I go back to the surgeon in a week, but meantime I'm a little worried about what it could be and if it will ever go away.

I'm on amoxicillin, so I would hope that's taking care of any infection.
Any help as to what this could be, hopefully easing my mind, would be appreciated!

I am doing warm salt water rinses several times a day and will continue that for a while to come.
Thanks......Gretchen
