If you believe that going to school will help you in a career moving forward, and you think that you are cognatively ready for the work required to be successful in the academic program I'd say great. However is sounds as if you have doubts about your ability to successfully complete a program of study. If this is the case I'd suggest thinking long and hard about taking school loans out. School loans will stay with you until they are paid off; they are not dischargeable in bankruptcy. Going into debt after using up savings may only make matters worse. If you don't think you are ready for the rigors of school I'd suggest continuing to pursue other options.

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition.

Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life.
