When I had tos surgery, they did electron. Phrenic Nerve test, to make sure this nerve was identified by its function, so they could preserve it during surgery. I read the surgery report after my surgery so that's how I know this. I'm sure this was done inside the chest or neck area. I really don't know if this can be done outside the skin, I wouldn't think so.
