I think the older you get, the more difficult it is to balance blood sugar. There are some studies now, on type II diabetics and A1C levels, suggesting that older people should be cut some slack and allowed slightly higher blood sugars than younger patients.

You might try some ribose to increase energy.

Ribose is a 5 carbon sugar, which is used to make adenosine, which is then used in the mitochondria to make ATP (the energy cycle).

Ribose is useful for people with fibromyalgia too. It can help with sleep in some people, since adenosine is the signaling compound to initiate the sleep cycle.

Keeping to under 10 g a day should not impact type II diabetics, but you should test your blood sugar just to be sure.
Free Style and other meters may test positive of other sugars in the blood. But One Touch uses another system and only tests for glucose.
